Bloom Into Spring

Spring 2014

After the cool winter months, there is nothing more desirable than welcoming the sun-filled season of spring. Here in central Florida, there are many exciting activities to partake in. During your stay be sure to stop at some of the local attractions where you can enjoy the beauty of the spring season in full bloom.

At the Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival presented by HGTV, you’ll see some of your Disney Character favorites as topiaries. In all, you’ll find over 100 topiaries for another year of going green! Returning for 2014 is a blooming good time for your taste buds! Grab a bite to eat at 11 food and beverage marketplaces around World Showcase available only during the festival. From fresh greens to amazing desserts, you’ll find bountiful flavors to go with your floral displays. And while you’re stopping and smelling the roses, don’t forget you can peel out on the re-imagined Test Track® Presented by Chevrolet®, take a flight on Soarin’® or check out any of your favorite attractions! Celebrate all things spring in the festive setting of Epcot® from March 5 - May 18.

If you’re looking to experience something different, then you’ll love Concert Under the Stars, Bok Tower Gardens’ premier outdoor live music event, returning April 26. The concert features annually-changing blue-jazz, pop-grass performances for all ages in a unique festival atmosphere. This year’s concert includes progressive American folk rock and “newgrass” band, The Greencards.

From gardenias to begonias, LEGOLAND® Florida, the world’s most beautiful LEGOLAND Park, is in full bloom for spring. LEGOLAND Florida has taken great care to preserve the soul of the park – the historic gardens established on the grounds of its Cypress Gardens predecessor more than 75 years ago. The setting has been restored to its pristine condition. Still standing sentinel in the garden is the vast Banyan tree that was planted as a seedling in a five-gallon bucket in 1939. The Gardens rest in the center of the park amidst more than 50 pink-knuckle roller coasters, rides, live shows, attractions and a water park all geared toward families with children ages 2 to 12.

Showcase of Citrus is a must see treasure of central Florida. This family farm produces more than 60 varieties of citrus fruit. Visitors can take a free self-guided waterfront tour through 70 acres of U-Pick Trees while enjoying the scenery of native Florida. Showcase of Citrus offers both u-pick and in-store already picked seasonal fruit. The “old time” country farm store is full of memorabilia and well stocked with locally made sauce, jam, jelly, marmalade, honey and many other goodies. Guests can also sample the farm grown citrus fruits and all of the tasty in-store treats. Sit and relax at the playground-picnic area or walk along the pier at Blue Lake.

With the flowers blooming and sunshine beaming what better way is there to welcome spring than being here in the Sunshine State!
