Delights & Sights 'Tis the Season for Cenral Florida's Arts & Culture

The mercury is beginning to drop and a chill is in the air! With all the excitement brought by the holiday season and the New Year come plenty of fun cultural events to explore and enjoy in Central Florida. Whether you’re interested in the science of the season, age-old holiday classics or an unorthodox night out, Central Florida’s cultural corridor has something just for you.

In addition to year-round featured exhibits, Orlando Museum of Art kicks off the holiday season with the 27th annual Festival of Trees, November 16 - 24. This year’s event, themed “All That Glitters,” promises to dazzle and delight with a winter wonderland featuring beautifully decorated designer trees, a gingerbread village and a holiday garden!

As part of its 40th anniversary season, the Orlando Ballet will present two classics. The Nutcracker will be accompanied by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra from November 19 - 22 and the ultimate romance, Romeo and Juliet on February 14 - 15.

From January 22 - March 9, you can catch The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (Parts I and II) at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, which serves as the anchor show for Central Florida’s year-long “What the Dickens?” celebration. More than 15 cultural organizations will be hosting Dickens inspired events and performances all year long.

If sticking to your New Year’s resolutions leaves you a bit “looney,” you may want to visit The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons Exhibition at the Orange County Regional History Center. Learn about the creative process that gave birth to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote and their comrades. The exhibit runs January 25 - March 23.

For one low price you can experience three of Orlando’s gems, Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando Science Center and Mennello Museum of American Art, by purchasing the Loch Haven Cultural Pass. Tickets are available year round.

Visit Orlando’s official arts and cultural resource, www.RedChairProject.com, for reliable information on events, classes and workshops and to purchase tickets.
